About Temple Stories
Temple Stories is a small team of devotees who travel to old village temples across India — temples that were built by villagers generations ago and are now quietly falling into disrepair. We sit with the priests, listen to the villagers, photograph what we see, and tell each temple's true story.
Devotees anywhere in the world can then take part: book a puja or seva performed in their name at the temple, or contribute to a specific, verified restoration need such as a leaking roof or a broken sanctum door.
How we verify each temple
- We visit every temple in person before it appears on this site.
- We verify the temple's bank account so donations reach the temple directly.
- Repair estimates are cross-checked with local workmen, not taken on faith.
- Photos and videos on each page are taken by us, on site.
- After work begins, we return and publish updates with photos so you can see the result.
Where your money goes
Donations go directly to each temple — we never hold donor funds. Puja and seva bookings are services facilitated with each temple and its priest. Photos and videos from the temple are shared from time to time in Updates.
